Electrification as a key pillar of the post-2030 framework

14 April 2026
/ 14 April 2026
19:00-20:30
European Parliament, Brussels

On 14 April 2026, the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA), together with the European Energy Forum (EEF), EDF and Fortum, will co-host a dinner debate at the European Parliament in Brussels.

As the European Union prepares key revisions of its post-2030 energy and climate framework, this discussion will focus on the role of electrification and low-carbon technologies in strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, energy security and climate ambition.

The debate will bring together Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), industry leaders and energy stakeholders to exchange views on how to design a resilient and future-proof energy system.

Discussions will notably explore:

  • how to develop a balanced and decarbonised electricity system, where all low-carbon solutions can contribute effectively;
  • how to address the systemic barriers slowing down electrification across industry, buildings and mobility;
  • the role of policy frameworks and financing instruments in supporting Europe’s industrial resilience and strategic autonomy.

AGENDA

Chair: Tsvetelina Penkova MEP, President, European Energy Forum

Speakers
– Catherine Bauby, Director of Strategy, EDF
– Nebahat Albayrak, Executive Vice President, Sustainability and Corporate Relations, Fortum
– Paul Kenny, Director General, European Heat Pump Association
